Building Teams

In today’s digital age, design is not an event, it is a core competency. Building diverse teams with complementary skillsets is a must for high impact and value. I’ve been fortunate to learn from some talented people in my career. Together, we’ve built teams that hit the experience strategy sweet spot to provide maximum impact and value to customers and business stakeholders.

Experience Strategy

Experience Strategy is where business need, user need, and technical feasibility meet to provide the most impact and value. It comes from collaboration and a deep understanding of users. In other words,

Are we building the right thing?

Usability Testing

Understanding if you are building the right thing is important, but is it usable? Ongoing testing is the key to improving performance and efficiency. It helps make sure tasks are optimized to make users the most productive they can be. Usability testing facilitates relentless improvement. In other words,

Are we building the thing right?

Usability testing finds if something is usable, useful, findable, and accessible.

Design Thinking

Design thinking is a widely accepted approach to designing digital products. It is flexible, scalable, and trusted to design great digital products. It is used by some of the world’s largest companies like IBM, Capital One, Intuit, and Lego (yes, Lego) among others.

Design Principles

Ongoing education and improvement is a core factor to successful teams. In 2018, I shared an article on design principles with the team at Herbalife. This sharing turned in to an ongoing session to adopt, define and score ourselves based on these 7 principles. We’ve decided to use a 5 point scale, and this is an ongoing effort.
